Abstract
Summary and Conclusions
Glycosuria in the presence of normal blood sugar levels and normal glucose tolerance was demonstrated in a patient recovering from pneumococcal pneumonia during treatment with ACTH. The reducing substance in the urine was shown to be glucose and the glycosuria was accompanied by lowered blood glutathione levels. These observations indicate that renal tubular function may be affected by ACTH and that sulfhydryl activity may be of importance in tubular function.
