Conclusions
These studies substantiate and extend an earlier report regarding the wide distribution of the Lactobacillus bulgaricus factor in nature. In addition they reveal the possibility that this factor may be required for animal growth. Investigations on the biosynthesis, purification, and nutritional significance of this factor are being continued.
