Abstract
Summary
The timed intravenous infusion metrazol test makes possible an accurate, economical, and rapid evaluation of anticonvulsant compounds. It presents distinct advantages over the subcutaneous method because: (1) fewer animals are needed in order to draw a statistically significant conclusion on the drug being evaluated; (2) less time is necessary to complete the testing procedure; and (3) it is equal in accuracy to the subcutaneous method.
