Abstract
Summary
Guinea pigs sensitized with cytochrome C of equine origin when challenged with the same material, were shown to exhibit anaphylactic reactions, ranging to fatal, in a relatively large percentage of animals. Cross sensitivity could not be demonstrated between cytochrome C and horse serum, but remains a possibility. Cross sensitivity to cytochrome C of different manufacture was demonstrated. The possible hazards of its use clinically are emphasized.
