Summary
(1) The fixation of complement by vesicular stomatitis virus and its antiserum is described. (2) This fixation is type specific for the 2 strains of vesicular stomatitis virus of Indiana and New Jersey type available. (3) There is no cross-fixation with any of the three types of the virus of foot-and-mouth disease.
