Abstract
Conclusions
1. Contrary to reports indicating that “cold blooded” creatures are not susceptible to tetanus toxin, the desert iguana is susceptible and for temperature studies is an excellent experimental animal.
2. Lowering of temperature markedly prolongs life in the desert iguana inoculated with tetanus toxin. From Van't Hoffs Law one would expect a slowing down of the effects of the toxin at lower temperatures.
3. There is a tremendous field awaiting study on the effects of altering bodily temperature on the course of disease, especially where toxic factors are concerned.
