(1) The control patient excreted an averace of 90 times as much Sodium as the congestive hedrt failure patient when both were given salt ad lib. (2) nielc liridl diuretic resulted in an increase in sodium excretion of 75-fold nhen the congestive heart failure patient was receiving salt ad Iib. (3) A reduction of balt txcretion occurred in both when salt intake was restricted. However, the use of the diuretic still resulted in a 7-fold increase in the out-put oi mlium in the congestive heart failure patient. (4) Other significant findings are presented.
