Abstract
Summary
Thirteen rare sugars, including turanose, tagatose, neolactose, primeverose, vicianose, /?,/?-trehalose, three methylated glucoses, and the Schardinger dextrins were tested for their utilization by 18 bacterial species and 4 yeasts. Some of these sugars appear to be of value for differentiating certain members of the enteric group of bacteria.
