Summary
Drastic sodium restriction was shown to result in a marked drop in the blood pressure of rats with experimental hypertension. This drop in blood pressure was demonstrated to be accompanied by a prolongation of the survival of the animals. The drop was inhibited by the administration of large doses of choline.
