Abstract
Conclusions
1. The incidence of gastrojejunal ulcer in dogs attending complete intragastric regurgitation of the duodenal loop contents is dependent upon the length of the afferent duodenojejunal loop. 2. In 11 dogs in which complete duodenal drainage by means of a short afferent loop (8 to 15 cm) was established, only one dog developed a gastrojejunal ulcer, an incidence of 9.1%. 3. Five out of 6 dogs undergoing the same operation in which the proximal jejunal loop was long (75 to 90 cm) developed stomal ulcer, an incidence of 83.3%. Four of these died of generalized peritonitis secondary to perforated ulcers.
