Abstract
Summary
Five strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were made resistant in vitro to concentrations of penicillin 8, 64, 128, 200, and 400 times greater than the initial concentration permitting growth. Morphological changes of the gonococcus and a delayed fermentation of glucose were observed in the strains during the development of resistance to the drug.
