Abstract
Summary and Conclusions
1. The effect of steroid substances on the synthesis of acetylcholine was investigated. 2. Cholesterol did not modify the synthesis of acetylcholine. 3. Bile salts and vitamin D did not modify the synthesis in low concentrations and depressed it in higher. 4. Hormones of the adrenal cortex, male sex hormones, and corpus luteum hormones, except pregnenolone, depressed the synthesis in low and increasing concentrations. 5. Estrogenic hormones and pregnenolone increased the synthesis of acetylcholine.
