Summary
Fasting causes a decrease in the total acid-soluble phosphate, adenosine triphosphate, and the glycerol phosphate fractions of the liver. With advancing age there is a shift of phosphate from the fraction containing phosphoglyceric acid to the fraction containing glycerol phosphate.
