Summary

Culture filtrates of a certain strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis grown on a synthetic medium containing high concentrations of p-aminobenzoic acid, contain considerable amounts of the unidentified vitamins (B₁₀ and B₁₁) which promote growth and feathering in chicks. The synthesis of these vitamins by the microorganism is definitely stimulated by the presence of high concentrations of p-aminobenzdic acid in the medium.
