Summary
Evidence is presented in confirmation of the work of others that smallpox (vaccinia) vaccination gives rise to false positive reactions for syphilis. The incidence of positive reactions by the use of the Kolmer, Kahn and Mazzini tests was 11.8%. The false positive reactions are transitory but may persist for 2 months or more.
