The acetone, phenol, and various formamide fractions in the extraction of Salmonella typhimurium endotoxin when tested on mice were active in respect to (1) lethality, (2) the induction of hemorrhage in implanted tumors, (3) the production of antibodies which protected mice against the toxic material.
