Abstract
Summary
1. A simple method for quantitatively estimating the effect of sulfonamides on the tubercle bacillus is described. 2. The antibacterial activity of the sulfonamides for M. tuberculosis can be correlated with their acid dissociation constants and their ability to withstand the inhibitory action of p-aminobenzoic acid. 3. The theories of the non-specificity of action of the sulfonamides may be extended to include their effect on the tubercle bacillus.
