Summary
Bennett's histochemical test for ketosteroids in the adrenal cortex is not a specific reaction since it merely indicates the presence of lipid bodies having aldehyde or keto groups. Lipid aldehydes, not related in any way to ketosteroids, are present in large amounts in the adrenal cortex.
