Conclusion
The gastric juice of patients suffering from pernicious anemia contained blood group specific substances at least in the same large amounts as normal gastric juice in spite of the fact that there was no free hydrochloric acid or pepsin present in the specimens. Eleven of the 12 patients were proved to belong to the so-called secretor group, while one was a non-secretor.
