Summary
The action of epinephrine is not mediated through direct chemical stimulation of the luminescence reaction. Consideration of relative potencies of its congeners in evoking constant luminescence in fireflies suggests that the site of action is at the tracheal end-cells and that no nicotine-like effect is involved.
