Conclusions
Less than 10%, if any, of galacturonic acid, introduced as an isosmotic and isotonic solution, is absorbed from the canine small and large intestine and the human small intestine. Isosmotic galacturonic acid stimulates the secretion of fluid by the small intestine of unanesthetized human and canine subjects.
