Abstract
Summary and Conclusions
1. Morphine sulfate added to blood in vitro produces no consistent change in choline-esterase activity. 2. Serum choline-esterase activity in the dog is consistently lowered following the injection of morphine sulfate. 3. The in vivo effect of morphine on serum choline-esterase furnishes another indication that morphine acts through a cholinergic mechanism.
