On the Fate of Ingested Pectin

Summary

In the dog when 20 g of pectin was fed per day, with a mixed diet over a 7 day period, an average of 90% of the pectin was decomposed; when fed during fasting an average of only 50% was decomposed. These observations, however, may not be applicable to man.
