Summary and Conclusions
The blood plasma values for ascorbic acid in the 6 patients who had Addison's disease that were studied were within normal range. The urinary excretion of ascorbic acid during a 24-hour period was low. On the basis of the results obtained, it would seem that the urinary excretion of ascorbic acid alone cannot be used as an index of vitamin C deficiency in instances of Addison's disease.
