Abstract
Summary
Rat liver slices absorb water at a rapid rate from “physiological” saline solutions. An appreciable uptake may be observed within one minute; within 10 minutes an amount of water equal to the dry weight of the tissue is usually absorbed. Conditions under which tissues may be maintained for long periods of time without significant change in water content, and may be sliced without contact with solutions are described.
