Conclusions
The material presented here leads to the conclusion that in simple obstruction only slight changes (congestion, edema) can be demonstrated and frequently no alteration of microscopic structure is to be observed. Grossly the bowel regularly appears hyperemic but no inflammatory or degenerative changes are observed on histologic study.
