Abstract
Various writers have shown statistically and by analyses the relation that iodin starvation bears to goiter, both simple and exophthalmic. McClendon and Hathaway 1 showed that Utah lies in the border line area of a goiter map of the United States, and the writer thought that it would be of value, therefore, to determine the relation of iodin contained in the water supply to goiter, in different localities of this State. The State Board of Health of Utah has been very cooperative in sending the results of surveys of the goiter situation in school children from places from which water samples were obtained. The following table shows rather strikingly the inverse relation of the iodin in the water supply to the goiter situation in these localities.
