Abstract
Conclusions
Given that lycopene is a major dietary and plasma carotenoid in the U.S. population, and that there is an inverse a sociation between lycopene intake or plasma concentrations and cancer of the prostate, pancreas, and possibly stomach, it is important to understand factors that influence concentrations in the body and evaluate the metabolism and biological function of Iycopene and its metabolites. This is essential for the understanding of the protective effects of this carotenoid.
