Abstract
This special minireview is a historical overview of past and present research on nutrition in China. It was written by Dr. H. C. Hou, who, at the time if its submission, was one of the few Western-trained nutritional scientists still active in China. It was adapted by Professor Hou from his lecture given at the Institute for Human Nutrition, Columbia University. We have recently been informed of the death of Dr. Hou in Beijing in April 1982.
