Abstract
Summary and conclusions
Data obtained from assays from activity of 3HAA and PC in livers of five species of trout and salmon indicate that, in general, dietary tryptophan is not an effective precursor of niacin, for which a dietary requirement exists. Intergeneric differences in this relationship may or may not suggest differences in the quantitative requirements for dietary niacin by these individual species of salmonids.
