Abstract
Summary
The effect of lithium chloride treatment on adrenocortical function was studied. Rats given lithium orally for 2 weeks demonstrated elevated AM “resting” plasma corticosterone levels compared to saline-treated controls. There was increased plasma corticosterone 2 hr after a single lithium injection. Dexamethasone blocked the lithium-stimulated adrenal response in chronically treated rats.
