Abstract
Summary
Acutely PTX rats responded with phosphaturia to both iv calcitonin and acetazolamide but failed to respond to iv chlorothiazide or saline loading. Chronically PTX rats, and iv phosphate-loaded acutely PTX rats responded with phosphaturia to iv chlorothiazide and saline loading. These findings suggests that different agents may exert their phosphaturic effects by acting at different reabsorptive systems for phosphorus in the kidney.
