Abstract
Summary
Highly purified canine prolactin has been prepared and partially characterized. The material is comparable in potency to ovine prolactin, and similar in amino acid composition as well.
I thank Prof. C. H. Li for reading the manuscript and his suggestions. I also thank Dr. M. Aubert, Dr. S. W. Farmer, Jean Knorr, and J. D. Nelson for their assistance. The canine pituitaries were put at my disposal by Dr. S. Kaplan (Dept. of Pediatrics) and Dr. R. Weiner (Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology), both of the University of California, San Francisco. This work was supported in part by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (AM-6097) and a Rockefeller Center Grant.
