Abstract
Summary
The daily subcutaneous injection of 10 mg/kg methyl-prednisolone or 2 mg/kg dexamethasone for 12 days to mongrel dogs caused a significant decrease of plasma butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) activity. BuChE activity returned toward pre-drug values after discontinuation of gluco-corticoids. There were no changes in erythrocyte AChE activity.
The authors thank Dr. S. Stubbs and Dr. H. A. Strade for generous supplies of methylprednisolone (Solu-Medrol) and dexamethasone (Hexadrol) respectively.
