Abstract
Summary
Cytomegalovirus persisted in the urine of healthy young rhesus monkeys for more than 4 years. The rhesus cytomegalovirus is similar to cytomegalovirus of the African green monkey in that it grows in cultures of human fibroblasts as well as in both rhesus and African green monkey fibroblasts. Rhesus cytomegalovirus differs antigenically from African green monkey cytomegalovirus although both viruses and human cytomegalovirus appear to share some antigenic determinants.
