Abstract
Summary
The radioactive microsphere method was used to quantitate aglomerular blood flow during intrarenal acetylcholine administration (6 studies) and hemorrhagic hypotension (5 studies). In each of the 11 studies, less than 1% of the injected radioactivity was recovered in renal venous effluent. These findings strongly suggest that a significant diversion of renal blood flow by a non-glomerular pathway does not occur in these two models.
