Summary
Cultures of rabbit kidney cells were sometimes found to be contaminated with an intracellular protozoan parasite resembling Encephalitozoon cuniculi. Such cultures were resistant to vesicular stomatitis and eastern equine encephalitis viruses owing to production of an inhibitor which resembles interferon.
