Abstract
Summary
Results are presented that confirm an increase in oxygen uptake by porcine spermatozoa incubated in the presence of estrous oviductal fluids and indicate that increased oxygen uptake is paralleled by a proportional increase in energy production. Spermatozoa incubated in the presence of nonestrous oviductal fluid consumed more oxygen than controls; however, P/O ratios were significantly lower.
