Abstract
Summary
Oxyphenbutazone, a metabolite of phenylbutazone, inhibits the elimination of phenylbutazone in rats. The magnitude of this inhibitory effect is most pronounced in animals which eliminate phenylbutazone relatively rapidly in control experiments.
Supported in part by Grant 71-554 from the American Heart Association and by a fellowship for E. J. from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. Phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone were kindly supplied by Ciba-Geigy, Ardsley, NY. Competent technical assistance was provided by Mr. Chii-Ming Lai.
