Abstract
Summary
The interaction between vagal stimulation and agents with coronary dilator activity was studied in heart mitochondria of rabbits. Vagal stimulation alone, increased the amplitude of mitochondrial swelling–contraction. The effect was synergized by adenosine, dipyridamole and nitroglycerin. Phentolamine prevented both the vagal effect and its synergistic effect with the coronary dilator drugs leaving mitochondrial swelling–contraction at control levels.
