Abstract
Summary
Glucose-U-14C conversion into triglycerides (in the presence of insulin) decreased as rat fat cells enlarged (and/or aged). The results of this study show that the diminished lipogenic capacity results from the marked decrease in glyceride-fatty acid biosynthesis while glucose conversion into glyceride-glycerol was unaltered by fat cell size.
