Abstract
Summary
Human or rabbit plasma kallikrein in highly purified form accelerated the partial thromboplastin test of rabbit, but not human, plasma in a dose-dependent fashion. The clot-promoting effect of kallikrein was inhibited by preincubation with plasma or by treatment of the enzyme with plasma α2-macroglobulin or soybean inhibitors. Prekallikrein did not substitute for the coagulation abnormalities of human plasma deficient in Hageman factor, plasma thromboplastin antecedent, Christmas factor or antihemophilic globulin.
