Abstract
Summary
A chromatographic procedure and different substrate concentrations were used to resolve the activities of the four hexokinase isozymes of rat liver. Animals rendered hypothyroid by radiothyroidectomy showed no significant changes in hexokinase isozyme activities after 14 days. Treatment of animals with high doses of thyroxine resulted in increased Hex I activity and decreased Hex IV (glucokinase) activity. Possible physiological consequences of these changes were discussed.
