Summary
Phthalyl amino acid esters of fluorescein were synthesized and characterized. They were tested (in vitro) for use as possible fluorogenic substrates for LAP. The rates of enzymatic hydrolysis of these compounds were compared with those of some commercially available fluorescein esters.
