Abstract
Summary
Treatment of chick embryo fibroblasts with poly I:C significantly inhibits the ability of RSV to transform and to replicate in these cells. Under identical assay conditions, however, interferon is relatively ineffective in decreasing either of these parameters. The effect of poly I:C is obtained only when the drug is given before infection, suggesting that very early events involved in the fixation of transformation are inhibited. Last, significant inhibition by poly I:C is achieved with as little an exposure time as 10 min.
