Summary
In four White Leghorn hens with chronically implanted gastric cannulas, a step-dose-response was done with histamine (75-1500 μg base/kg hr) given by subcutaneous infusion. The dose-response was repeated under Penthrane anesthesia. V max for gastric juice volume calculated from linear transformation of the data was reduced from 10.7 ml/kg hr to 5.6 ml/kg hr but S 50 was only slightly increased.
