Abstract
Summary
Cephalothin was given in a dose of 300 mg/kg for 15 days to rabbits in which renal function had been reduced by extirpation of 60–70% of kidney mass. Serum creatinine which rose immediately after surgery remained stable for 21 days prior to adminstration of cephalothin. There was no further rise in serum creatinine during cephalothin with serum cephalothin levels ranging 1 hr after the dose from 85–1130 μg/ml. Most of the cephalothin was deacety–lated within 1 hr of administration. The clinical implications of these findings are discussed.
