Abstract
Summary
Several substances known to be bound to serum albumin were tested for bone resorbing activity. Citrate, lactate, and pyruvate were ineffective in the concentration range present in albumin. Fatty acids stimulated bone resorption. However, the fatty acid content of several albumins did not correlate well with the bone resorbing activity of these same proteins.
The activated charcoal treated fraction V bovine serum albumin, lot 80, was prepared and kindly supplied to us by Dr. Boyd E. Metzger.
