Glucagon was carbamylated with carbamyl phosphate and with KCNO. Only the NH2-terminal histidine was carbamylated. Carbamylation of glucagon resulted in loss of its adipokinetic and hyperglycemic effects in the intact duck, for the two forms of carbamylation used. These results indicate that the
