Abstract
Summary
G-6-PD was studied in human liver at various stages of development. Distinct differences were observed in specific activity, pH optimum, and thermal stability of the fetal enzyme compared to newborn and adult enzyme. In contrast, no differences were observed in Michaelis-Menten constants or electrophoretic mobility.
These studies were supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (R.R. 05475-08 and HD 00036) and the National Foundation—March of Dimes (CRS-61). Henry L. Nadler is the Given Research Professor of Pediatrics.
